For years my hobby has been teaching college-level Computer Science concepts to children. At first, it started with my friend’s third-grader, Skyland. More recently my brother has had daughters (Sabrah and Ada) and I have begun to see how thirsty for knowledge pre-schoolers can be.
I work in the Information Technology (IT) Department at the California Community Colleges (CCC) Tech Center (CCCTC). The Tech Center is hosted by Butte College and I am officially a Butte College employee. The college encourages us to take courses to further our professional development, so I went back to school to learn just what makes young learners tick and how to present curriculum, especially Math and Science, to children under 5. I took the courses for the Certificate in Early Childhood Education. I have more recently begun working toward a Master’s Degree. It is a Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning with Technology (MATLT) and my specialty is Online Educator. I will be posting some of my coursework here.
This will be an exciting venture. I will track my progress and what I’ve learned in this blog. I hope you find it interesting.
